Jane's design is best described as bold and elegant with a twist of the unexpected; its underlying purpose being to provide landscape spaces for abundant, tamed yet wild, textured planting for long seasonal interest. The whole at all times being both beautiful yet practical, with client fulfilment uppermost.
Jane is most comfortable designing gardens of ± 1 acre down to 'pocket' sized.
Although Piet Oudolf was an early inspiration as a plantsman for her, she has evolved a contemporary style of her own for floriferous planting, nevertheless, she is often asked to design low maintenance all season plantings which become structural in their own right.
Despite her extensive horticulture studies, the learning is never done. Other creative sources for her come from architecture, design in general, and art (particularly Impressionism); Jane often uses art as a start point for her garden design concept.
